Pretto in Verona

We had a whirlwind tour of Verona, on our way from Milan to Venice, only managing to stay for a few hours. Luckily we found one of those mini-trains for tourists to show us the highlights of the town. It was a fun ride going over all the cobble-stone roads and trying to compete with the Italian drivers along those narrow streets! No wonder all my photos turned out to be crooked.

Verona is such a beautiful and romantic town, it's no wonder Shakespeare chose to set his 'Romeo & Juliet' here. After seeing the famous balcony of Juliet, we were on the hunt for gelato! We came across this very fancy looking gelateria - 'Pretto' and knew it would be good with some of my favourite words 'gelato', 'arte' and 'italiana' written all over their windows.

The photos don't do the gelato much justice, but I couldn't help it but say yes when asked if I wanted whipped cream on top! So you'll just have to take my word for it. The raspberry sorbet was so creamy, it was hard to believe there was no dairy in it. The hazelnut was beautifully smooth and the ciccolata extra noir (extra dark chocolate) was very rich in flavour. Each flavour worked nicely together and it looked like a Neopolitan sundae.
Check out this link to see some more photos of the place and even behind the scenes!
